Ziba Ganieva (1923 – 2010) – participant of the Great Patriotic War, radio operator, sniper, reconnaissance. She was awarded the orders of the Red Banner, Red Star, the medal “For the Defense of Moscow” and the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree. On November 7, 1941, as part of the 3rd Moscow Communist Division, she participated in a parade on Red Square. She destroyed 129 fascists.
Ziba’s father was Azerbaijani, her mother was Uzbek.
In 1942, Ziba was seriously injured, after which she lay in the hospital for about two years.
After the Victory, Ziba Ganieva married the Azerbaijani diplomat Tofig Kadyrov, who was the temporary attorney of the USSR Embassy in Turkey. She gave birth to a son.
Being a very beautiful woman, after the war Ziba Ganieva starred in the film “Tahir and Zuhra”, where she played the role of the Persian shahini.
Ganieva studied history, became a doctor of oriental studies, professor, candidate of philological sciences. In 1955-56 was the head of the department of language and literature of the Baku Higher Party School. Since 1956, she was a research fellow at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
In 1985, in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Victory in World War II, she was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree.
